Wonder, a fast-growing food delivery startup, is set to acquire media company Tastemade in a deal worth approximately $90 million, according to The Wall Street Journal. Tastemade, founded in 2012, is known for its engaging food, travel, and home-focused video content, as well as its network of free, ad-supported streaming television (FAST) channels.

Wonder Expands Its Food Delivery and Media Ecosystem

By acquiring Tastemade, Wonder gains access to a full-fledged content studio, production company, and advertising network.

This strategic move will allow Wonder to amplify its brand presence and engage audiences in new ways through multimedia storytelling and entertainment.

The acquisition aligns with Wonder’s broader vision of building a next-generation mealtime “super app.” Founder and CEO Marc Lore, who previously led Walmart’s e-commerce division, envisions an AI-driven platform that not only recommends meals but also automates food orders from Wonder’s network of kitchens.

Tastemade, with its vast library of food-related content, provides Wonder with a unique opportunity to integrate video-driven engagement into its platform. Users may soon watch a Tastemade cooking show and instantly order a meal featured in the episode, creating an interactive dining experience.

This integration of entertainment and food delivery could give Wonder a competitive edge in an increasingly saturated market.

This latest move builds on Wonder’s previous acquisitions, including meal kit provider Blue Apron and food delivery platform Grubhub. These acquisitions not only expand Wonder’s service offerings but also strengthen its ability to control various aspects of the food delivery supply chain.

By acquiring well-established brands, Wonder can refine its logistics, enhance meal variety, and cater to a wider customer base.

With $1.6 billion in funding secured so far, Wonder is positioning itself as a dominant force in the evolving food-tech landscape. The company’s continued growth highlights its ambition to revolutionize how people discover, order, and experience food.

As Wonder integrates Tastemade’s capabilities, it will likely drive innovation in AI-powered meal recommendations, personalized dining experiences, and digital food commerce. The future of food delivery may be shaped by how seamlessly Wonder can blend technology with mealtime entertainment.
