AI defense technology startup Arondite has secured $12 million to unify autonomous systems across military and public security infrastructure. The London-based company is building a hardware-agnostic platform that connects drones, robots, and sensors—providing real-time operational control without sacrificing safety or command.

Modern defense relies heavily on autonomous systems, but fragmentation remains a major barrier. Devices from different vendors often cannot communicate, creating blind spots and safety risks. Arondite bridges these gaps with a centralised AI platform that integrates diverse technologies into one operational interface.

Transforming Human-Machine Teaming with AI

Arondite’s platform acts as connective tissue for today’s defense environments. It links disparate machines and sensors through a secure interface that supports real-time data sharing and AI-powered insight. Unlike companies building new hardware, Arondite focuses on enhancing existing systems to ensure smarter collaboration between people and machines.

Initial use cases include complex tasks such as minefield clearance and intrusion defense, where multiple autonomous systems must operate in sync. Arondite’s AI coordinates these operations, improving efficiency and reducing risks in high-pressure environments.

The platform is vendor-neutral, meaning it works with any device. It processes data using machine learning to generate actionable insights. This enables defense teams to manage missions with greater precision while maintaining full human oversight.

Co-founder and CEO Will Blyth, a former British Army Officer, understands this need firsthand. “In combat, access to the right data at the right time is life-saving,” he said. “When systems don’t talk to each other, things get dangerous. Arondite was built to fix that—to help humans and machines operate together safely and effectively.”

Deeptech Backing and European Expansion

The $12M seed funding round was led by Index Ventures, with a $10M contribution. The round follows an earlier $2.25M pre-seed round backed by Concept Ventures and Creator Fund, bringing total raised capital to over $12M. These investors are known for supporting deeptech startups and emerging AI leaders.

Index Ventures Partner Hannah Seal commented: “Arondite brings together real-world combat experience and technical brilliance. Their vision for human-machine teaming has transformative potential in autonomous defense.”

The founding team includes CTO Rob Underhill, formerly of BAE Systems and Garrison Technology. He brings deep systems engineering experience that complements Blyth’s battlefield insights. Together, they are building technology that enables militaries to coordinate existing equipment in ways not previously possible.

The new funding will help Arondite expand its engineering and product teams. It also plans to enhance its platform’s user interface and increase deployments across Europe. Longer term, the company aims to scale its AI to handle more complex decision-making processes.

While companies like Anduril and Shield AI focus on building autonomous hardware, Arondite sets itself apart by integrating and optimizing what defense teams already use. Its AI-first, human-centered strategy is positioning it as a key enabler of next-generation military operations.

Blyth summed up the mission: “As defense teams increasingly rely on networks of autonomous systems, integration becomes a priority. Arondite offers a scalable way to link machines and people. That’s the future of AI defense—and we’re building it now.”
