Google Classroom has unveiled a new AI-driven feature aimed at helping teachers create custom questions based on specific texts. Launched this week, the tool leverages Google’s Gemini technology to generate questions tailored to the material provided.

Teachers can upload files directly from Google Drive or input text manually for the AI to generate a list of questions. These questions can then be easily exported into a Google Doc or Form for further use.

Google Classroom is Customizing Questions for Specific Needs

The new tool offers teachers a range of customization options. Educators can filter by grade level, number of questions, and the type of questions (e.g., multiple choice or open-ended). Additionally, teachers can specify which skills they want to assess in students. Such as figurative language comprehension or the ability to evaluate arguments.

This feature is currently available to Google Workspace for Education subscribers who have access to either the Gemini Education add-on ($24 per user) or the Gemini Education Premium plan ($36 per user).

Launched in 2024, Gemini initially brought AI-driven tools like vocabulary list generation and lesson plan ideas to Google Classroom. The recent update continues to expand its functionality, now allowing for more detailed, text-based question generation and content summarization.
