A new startup called Superpower is publicly launching what it claims is the world’s first super app focused entirely on personal health. Designed to help people take better control of their well-being, the platform combines artificial intelligence, lab testing, and digital health records into a single, streamlined system that aims to close the gap between conventional healthcare and cutting-edge innovation.
Founded in 2023 by Jacob Peters, Max Marchione, and Kevin Unkrich, Superpower was born from personal experience with the healthcare system’s shortcomings. Peters survived multiple serious conditions after spending $2 million on medical care that failed to yield accurate diagnoses. Marchione spent decades being misdiagnosed by over 20 doctors, and Unkrich lost his best friend to a brain tumor just days before a scheduled MRI.
Their collective frustration mirrors a national issue: 40% of Americans live with conditions that could have been diagnosed earlier had better tools and information been available. That’s the gap Superpower wants to close, and according to Marchione, recent advancements in AI and digital health infrastructure make that goal achievable. “We didn’t think this was possible six years ago,” he said. “But with today’s tech, it finally is.”
Comprehensive Testing, Personalized Guidance, and Continuous Care
Superpower offers a biannual health testing membership for $499 per year. This includes two detailed lab screenings every six months — either at home or through one of 2,000 partnered labs across the U.S. These tests measure over 100 biomarkers across 21 health categories, offering insight into metabolic health, nutrient levels, hormone balance, and more.
Once results are available, the Superpower web app analyzes the data alongside fitness tracker inputs, genetic information, and medical history. The AI engine then generates a personalized health overview, flags potential concerns, and provides a clear action plan for users to follow. Features like the “Superpower Score” and “Biological Age” allow users to track their progress over time and identify areas for improvement.
The app goes beyond diagnostics. Superpower connects members with a curated marketplace of healthcare service providers and offers a 24/7 hybrid concierge care team made up of both AI tools and human experts. Users can message the team at any time to receive personalized health guidance, helping them stay proactive and informed throughout their journey.
“We don’t want to replace doctors,” said Peters. “But Superpower should be the first place people turn to when they have a health concern — not Google, not ChatGPT.”
Indeed, the app was built with the idea that modern search engines and general AI chatbots can’t offer the depth of insight needed for proper health care. “There are a billion health-related Google searches every day,” Marchione added. “People are desperate for answers, but platforms like Google don’t know your medical history. We do. That’s why we believe we can become the new front door to healthcare.”
Super App Vision and Strong Investor Support
With its public launch, Superpower is also announcing a $30 million Series A funding round led by Forerunner, with contributions from celebrities like Vanessa Hudgens, Steve Aoki, and NBA star Giannis Antetokounmpo. Other investors include Day One Ventures, Susa Ventures, Long Journey Ventures, Opal Ventures, Valia Ventures, Winklevoss Capital, and more.
There are currently over 150,000 people on Superpower’s waitlist. Now that the app is available to the public, the team plans to onboard users gradually to manage demand while ensuring service quality. While the platform is currently web-based, mobile apps for iOS and Android are in development and expected to launch in the near future.
Superpower’s mission is to offer a more cohesive, transparent, and empowering health experience. By centralizing data and using AI to make sense of it, the company hopes to help people catch problems earlier, understand their bodies better, and make more informed health decisions.
“This is just the beginning,” said Peters. “We want to make Superpower your lifelong health partner.”
