Sweden’s fastest-growing AI startup, Lovable, is looking across the North Sea as it ramps up hiring. With rapid revenue growth and a lean team that’s scaling fast, the Stockholm-based company is now exploring a London office to tap into the UK’s rich engineering talent—while keeping peace with its Nordic peers.
Just months after hitting $17 million in annual recurring revenue (ARR), Lovable has more than doubled that figure. This week, the company announced it has crossed $50 million ARR, cementing its status as one of Europe’s breakout AI stars. The startup’s core product allows users—no coding skills required—to design and launch websites in just minutes, positioning it at the heart of the no-code AI boom.
Founded by Anton Osika, the company had just 17 employees back in February. That number has since climbed to 30, and hiring continues at a breakneck pace. But Osika has no interest in competing locally for talent. “A big part of it is friendship,” he says, explaining that he’s close with other Stockholm AI founders and wants to avoid disrupting their teams. That’s why London is emerging as the next logical step.
London Calling, But Stockholm Still Central
While there’s no official date for a UK launch, the idea of opening a London office is gaining traction. Lovable currently lists 10 open roles on its website, all based in Stockholm. Yet the shift toward international hiring is already evident in the team’s makeup, which includes alumni from Spotify, Stripe, and several ex-founders of startups. The company’s rise is attracting seasoned operators with global experience.
Osika is also steering clear of his old stomping grounds at Sana Labs, another high-profile AI firm in Sweden, where he was the first hire and helped build the engineering team. “I’m a shareholder there,” he says, adding another layer of sensitivity to his local recruitment efforts.
The company is still firmly rooted in Europe, with Stockholm remaining the HQ for now. But London could become a key secondary hub, especially as Lovable scales and expands its talent pipeline beyond the Nordic scene.
The United States isn’t off the table. In fact, Lovable already serves a large number of US-based customers, and Osika hints that an American office may follow—purely for strategic reasons. “We need to be there too,” he says. “But the core of the company will remain in Europe.”
The startup’s backing is another sign of its momentum. Lovable raised €6.8 million in a pre-seed round led by Hummingbird and byFounders last October, followed by a $15 million pre-Series A in February. That round brought in high-profile angels, including Meta board member Charlie Songhurst, Quora CEO Adam D’Angelo, and Hugging Face cofounder Thomas Wolf.
With a clear product-market fit, strong funding, and a loyal user base, Lovable isn’t just growing—it’s becoming one of Europe’s most closely watched AI companies. And with global hiring plans in motion, London may soon play a big part in its next chapter.
